Leadership and advocacy go hand in hand.  We are actively involved in peak bodies associated with our industry and beyond.  We are determined that our influence will be felt and our voice will be heard, helping to guide others in the industry and the community toward more sustainable waste management practice for the benefit of all.

SITA is a member of various state and national industry associations and committees including:

SITA is also developing a range of national and state-based policy position statements in the following fields: 

  • National Sustainability Position Statement
  • National bans on e-waste disposal in residential and commercial bins
  • National use of organics in agriculture
  • Harmonisation of waste definitions and classifications across all government jurisdictions
  • Development of social licences for SITA's waste disposal and resource recovery infrastructure facilities nationally
  • Use of Processed Engineered Fuel (also referred to as RDF) in NSW
