New development in SAWT

SITA Environmental Solutions (SITA) has built an Advanced Waste Treatment (AWT) facility on approximately 8 hectares (ha) of its existing Elizabeth Drive landfill site in Western Sydney (Elizabeth Drive Site).

The facility was officially opened by The Hon. Carmel Tebbutt, NSW Deputy Premier on Wednesday 25 March 2009. Click here to read the media release and fact sheet. 

SITA's latest development is SITA's Advanced Waste Treatment (SAWT) technology which achieves 60% or greater diversion of waste from landfill.  

 The three principles of SAWT are:

• Recovery of all reusable resources from household waste
• Separation of organic materials
• Composting of almost 100% of the organic fraction into a high grade compost
