SITA's Landfill Activities in Victoria
In Victoria, SITA owns and operates two landfills. There is a site at Hallam Road (HRL) in Hampton Park and at Taylors Road (TRL) in Dandenong South. These sites provide responsible environmental management of waste that cannot yet be reused or recycled, from households, business and industry in the eastern and south-eastern suburbs of Melbourne. In a typical year approximately 480,000 tonnes of general waste is received across the two landfills. TRL also receives Prescribed Industrial Waste (PIW).

The Hallam Road Landfill site has Environmental Management ISO 14001 and Occupational Health & Safety AS 4801 certifications.
The Hallam Road landfill site is a producer of electricity for the local region. The onsite gas capture system, which translates gas into energy, has the capacity to generate 3.3 MWh of power (which is enough energy to power over 3,000 homes).
