BioWise is a joint development initiative between SITA Environmental Solutions (SITA) and the Water Corporation of Western Australia.

BioWise compost is made from biosolids, green organics, grease trap waste and food residue, and is carefully matured to comply with Australian Standard AS4454 Composts, Mulches and Soil Conditioners.

By providing an economic solution for biosolids disposal, SITA is diverting waste from landfill and delivering the horticultural, landscaping and nursery sector with a high quality product.

In 2002, BioWise received an Award for Excellence for Best Environmental Practises within a Nursery Business from the Western Australian Nursery and Garden Industry Association.

From Feedstock to BioWise Compost

BioWise operates Australia’s most advanced composting facility at Kwinana, 25km south of Perth.
The BioWise technology is flexible, robust and unique, and was custom-designed for WA’s specific needs.

Using an aerated, static pile system the facility is converting an initial 25,000 tonnes of organic stockfeed into 20,000m3 of A-Grade composts and soil conditioners.
Compost quality is controlled by analysis of feedstock and an extensive quality management plan.

BioWise will ultimately process 100,000 tonnes of feedstock producing 80,000m3 of high quality soil enhancing products.
