New free e-waste drop-off at Spring Farm

23/04/2013 - A free e-waste drop-off point is now open at Spring Farm Resource Recovery Park, allowing householders and small businesses to take their old or unwanted televisions, computers and associated computer products to be recycled free of charge.

Proposed York Landfill Update

11/03/2013 - SUEZ has now lodged a Referral Document with the Western Australia Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) for a proposed landfill facility at Allawuna Farm, St. Ronans, 18 km west of the York Township.

06/03/2013 - Free e-waste drop-off points are now open at selected SITA sites in the Sydney area, allowing householders and small businesses to take their old or unwanted televisions, computers and associated computer products to be recycled free of charge.

SITA and Degremont awarded at the Inaugural FACCI Business Awards

06/11/2012 - SITA (SITA Australia and Degremont) was nominated and awarded for its work on important environmental projects such as the Victorian Desalination Plant, and waste management across Australia. The award was presented to Eric Gernath at the annual Soiree de Gala on the 25th of October.

New Landfill Proposed for York

31/10/2012 - SITA, Australia's leading specialist in waste management, recycling and resource recovery, is proposing to build a new landfill off the Great Southern Highway, 18 km west of the York Township. They are currently in the environmental investigation and planning process and aim to get the facility operational in late 2013 or early 2014.

EPA accepts offer of enforceable undertaking from SITA

29/10/2012 - SITA has been advised by EPA Victoria that their offer of an Enforceable Undertaking (EU) to address odour offences asserted by neighbours of the Hampton Park Resource Recovery Precinct has been accepted. 

Minister Annesley tours landfill that turns garbage into clean power

28/08/2012 - Minister for Sport and Recreation Minister Graham Annesley recently joined NSW Local Government Minister Don Page to tour one of the nation’s largest landfills – the New Illawarra Road Landfill at SITA’s Lucas Heights Resource Recovery Park, which generates enough electricity to power over 20,000 homes. Also on the tour with Mr Annesley was Member for Menai Melanie Gibbons and the member for Heathcote, Lee Evans.

SITA announces new team of neighbourhood champions

27/08/2012 - Advanced resource recovery specialist, SITA today announced the successful applicants for membership of the new Taylors Road Landfill Community Reference Group (TRL CRG). Replacing the original TRL Community Engagement Steering Committee that began in 2008, the revitalised CRG will continue the valuable work carried out by the original committee.

10/08/2012 - SITA announces the immediate and temporary shutdown of the SITA Organics Cairns Advanced Resource Recovery Facility in Portsmith, Cairns due to necessary maintenance repairs.

SITA wants community involvement

10/07/2012 - Community groups, neighbours and individuals in the vicinity of the Taylors Road Landfill (TRL) in Lyndhurst, Victoria are encouraged to participate in a new Community Reference Group (CRG) initiative. SITA is seeking 18 community members representing residents and local businesses who will be responsible for expressing the views of the neighbourhood and assist SITA communicate information to the wider community.
