SITA seeks neighbourhood involvement in Hampton Park

SITA is seeking people who live, work or have an interest in the Hampton Park Resource Recovery Precinct to join our community reference group.

Individuals or members of established community groups interested in participating in SITA’s Hampton Park Community Reference Group (CRG) are being sought to help improve community awareness of SITA’s operations and environmental performance.

CRG members will contribute to the discussion regarding current operations and future developments, as well as being integral in the dissemination of information back into the community.

“Working in a consultative forum with our neighbours has been very beneficial to both SITA and the larger community,” said State General Manager, Daniel Fyfe.

We know that the CRG members have appreciated the opportunity to provide input on a wide range of resource recovery, sustainability and corporate citizenship topics and we believe the community has benefitted from the information we have provided.”

The original Hampton Park CRG was formed in July 2011, offering membership to 11 community members for a period of two years. During this time the CRG has expanded to 13 members and has positively contributed to SITA through the distribution of information to the wider community and the provision of constructive feedback relevant to SITA’s operations.

Mr Fyfe said, “The value of community engagement is recognised at every level of SITA and we consider our neighbours to be key partners.”

“I encourage all community members to consider participation in the CRG. In fact, we welcome anyone who wishes to visit the Hampton Park facility and view our operations.”

SITA is now seeking 18 people who will be responsible for representing the views of the community and help SITA make sure that information is communicated to the local community.

CRG members will be required to:

  • contribute to an open, encouraging, motivating environment for discussion;
  • present a responsive and active approach toward safety and environmental management of SITA’s Hampton Park facility; and
  • be willing to introduce or consider new and innovative ideas to assist SITA to develop and grow in a sustainable manner with due regard to the environment, the community and the economy.
