SITA awarded Bankstown City Council contract

SITA has been awarded the Bankstown City Council contract for the management and disposal of household waste.

The contract commenced on 1 July 2014 and runs for up to five years.

SITA's Executive Director of Infrastructure, Emmanuel Vivant, said: "SITA is delighted to continue our partnership with the Bankstown City Council to provide a local waste management solution to its residents."

"SITA will ensure that waste is cost effectively and efficiently managed on behalf of council and residents and disposed of locally in a responsible way," Mr Vivant said.

Bankstown City Council was looking for a reliable and value for money solution to meet their waste management needs. SITA’s proven service delivery and cost effective approach were key factors in securing the contract.

SITA has a strong presence in Western Sydney and the partnership with Bankstown City Council solidifies the company’s position as the leading waste management provider for the region.

Mr Vivant said SITA will continue to invest in its local operations.

"Following receipt of the NSW EPA's Waste Less, Recycle More grant SITA is investing in upgrades at our Chullora Resource Recovery Centre to provide commercial and industrial materials recycling. With this new facility, we will be able to process Council's household clean up waste to recover valuable resources and produce alternative fuels diverting more waste from landfill,” Mr Vivant added.

In addition, as part of the partnership Bankstown residents will have access to a free, month long e-waste drop off facility to help encourage responsible waste management and address illegal dumping in the area.
