New playground excites Clermont children

SITA presented St Joseph’s School Parents and Friends Association with a $5000 SITA Community Grant to assist with a brand new playground for the children of Clermont.

SITA is proud to support an initiative, which will encourage active play for more than 117 students, 23 staff and 75 families, some of which travel more than 100km each day to school.

SITA Central Queensland Regional Manager, Gavin Tunstall, presented the $5,000 grant to the schools Parents and Friends Association President, Judy Howard at a cheque handover ceremony.

With a mission to help improve the health and wellbeing of students, staff and families of the school, Ms Howard said the foundation was delighted to receive the SITA Community Grant, as it will contribute to the first new playground for the community in several years.

“With the new playground we hope the space will encourage physical activity, reduce boredom and build on social interactions with each other,” Ms Howard said.

With children living great distances apart it is important that we provide them, the staff and the families a space to interact and have fun each day when coming to school,” she said.

Gavin Tunstall said with significant operations in Emerald servicing many local businesses and mining operations, his team is passionate about supporting their local community.

“We are proud to support the creation of this fantastic play space which encourages healthy living and active lifestyles,” Mr Tunstall said.

SITA is proud to support the communities in which we operate through the first community grant program for the waste industry in Australia.

“The SITA Community Grant’s program is all about supporting projects that encourage community involvement and have a positive impact on local communities and their environment,” Mr Tunstall added.
