Frost & Sullivan Awards SITA Australia Waste Management Company of 2014

SITA Australia has again been awarded Waste Management Company of the Year at the annual Frost and Sullivan Australia Excellence Awards, held 4 December 2014 in Sydney.

The Frost & Sullivan Award for Waste Management Company of the Year is presented to the company who has exhibited outstanding management and consistent growth. Established in 2006, the Awards seek to recognise companies that have pushed the boundaries of excellence - rising above the competition and demonstrating outstanding performance in both their industry and the Australian market.

SITA’s Chief Information Officer, Michael Salas said: “We are delighted to accept this award which recognises our leadership in the industry. SITA prides itself on putting waste to good use with smart, simple and innovative solutions that deliver for our customers.”

The award specifically recognised SITA’s investment in technology. “The waste management market in Australia remains highly competitive on price, service delivery and technological advancement. SITA continues to invest significantly in new waste management infrastructure.”

Through SITA’s partnership with ResourceCo, the company has given Australia’s only Alternative Fuels facility a $3.8 million upgrade. The SITA ResourceCo Processed Engineered Fuel (PEF) plant has boosted its output from 75,000 to in excess of 95,000 tonnes per annum and the company has plans to establish additional PEF manufacturing infrastructure across the country.

Behind the scenes, SITA is also investing significantly in the technology that runs the business. The company has embarked on a transformation program to replace its core systems with one integrated technology platform. The first phase of the program was completed in 2014 with SITA’s finance, billing and HR systems moving to the SAP software platform.

Frost & Sullivan Analyst – Asia Pacific Energy & Environment Practice, Harpreet Kaur, said: “As a waste management company in Australia, SITA provides effective and proven solutions in sustainable resource recovery and waste management amidst the current environmental challenges and market competition. With their aim to reduce waste and turn it into a resource, they have established themselves as an important solutions provider of resource recovery solutions in Australia.”
