Ballarat Toy Library going bananas for new toys

29/09/2015

Ballarat Toy Library are set to purchase a bunch of new toys and educational tools following their success in the 2015 SUEZ Community Grants Program.

Ballarat Toy Library are set to purchase a bunch of new toys and educational tools following their success in the 2015 SUEZ Community Grants Program.

The local Toy Library has received a $5,000 grant from SUEZ for their ‘Go Bananas’ project which will help children to get access to toys under the themes of ‘action’, ‘healthy living’ and ‘communication’.

The Ballarat Toy Library is a community run organisation where families in the Ballarat area can borrow toys on a regular basis. Parents of children between the ages of 0-8 years can gain membership to the library which offers a wide range of quality toys, equipment, puzzles and games. The library is a great place for families within the community to meet, for children to enjoy a variety of toys without parents needing to purchase any of them.

Nat Bryant, SUEZ Collections Manager Victoria, presented the cheque to the Ballarat Toy Library at a cheque ceremony on Tuesday morning and said SUEZ was proud to support this local community group.

With young children himself, Mr Bryant knows that quality toys can be expensive.

“Ballarat Toy Library provides a fantastic opportunity for local families with young children to access a wide variety of toys, which are frequently rotated to help keep learning and development fun,” Nat said.

Ballarat Toy Library President Sally Tuck was excited to receive the news about the grant.

“The change in new toys will not only increase activity levels for children, improving their fitness and gross and fine motor skills they will also provide immense joy to the families and children discovering a new selection of toys on a regular basis,” Sally said.

“We’re doing banana splits over this! It’ll be wonderful to have some fresh toys to offer at the Ballarat Toy Library.”

“I can just imagine the happy faces of two hundred children as they spy the new toys this wonderful grant has provided and I think this will attract a lot of new families to sign up as members, we’d love to see more Ballarat kids share our fun,” Sally added.

SUEZ launched the company’s community grants program in 2013 and to date has provided more than $250,000 in funding across Australia.
