A breath of fresh air for St Johns Ambulance

St Johns Ambulance Mackay Division are set to purchase live saving equipment following their success in the 2015 SUEZ Community Grants Program
St Johns Ambulance Mackay Division are set to purchase live saving equipment following their success in the 2015 SUEZ Community Grants Program.

The local Mackay Division has received a $4,703 grant from SUEZ for portable emergency resuscitation, oxygen therapy and trauma equipment, which will benefit the local Mackay community and surrounding towns.

St John Ambulance provide fully trained, experienced, first responders and first aid services at all community events in times of emergency or disasters. St Johns form a vital link between members of the community, the Queensland Ambulance Service and medical help and is often first on the scene in an emergency.

Paul Haslam, State Commercial & Industrial Manager of Queensland, presented the cheque to St John Ambulance at a Mackay Division meeting on Wednesday night and said SUEZ was proud to support this local community group.

“St John Ambulance provide an invaluable resource to the local community, both here in Mackay and right across Australia.”

“With their new portable lifesaving equipment St Johns will be able to continue this assistance for the local Central Queensland community” Paul added.

Linda Fielder, Divisional Manager, Mackay Division was excited to hear the news about the grant.

“Funding to purchase this resuscitation and trauma equipment will benefit the residents of Mackay who attend public events. Having access to portable oxygen and trauma equipment will mean faster response times to emergency situations and may even save someone’s life”

“St John Ambulance is grateful to SUEZ for the lifesaving equipment,” Linda added.

SUEZ launched the company’s community grants program in 2013 and to date has provided more than $250,000 in funding across Australia.
