Hampton Park SUEZ-ResourceCo Recovery Facility

Located at SUEZ's Hampton Park Resource Recovery Precinct, the SUEZ-ResourceCo's Construction & Demolition (C&D) operation is the only facility in Melbourne that offers a full range of resource recovery and recycling solutions for the C&D sector.

Construction and Demolition

By accepting clean commerical & industrial (C&I), clean and mixed C&D streams to be recycled into road base material, the facility provides a total integrated resource recovery solution that diverts waste from landfill and maximises the recovery of resources.

Our Victorian SUEZ-ResourceCo site has processing facilities that manufacture a large range of quality, recycled products from various waste streams.

It accepts mixed C&D waste, which is processed onsite to remove the soil, aggregates, metal, timber, plastic and other material for re-use. The products manufactured from this process meet stringent VicRoads specifications.

In addition, the facility also receives clean fill and wet clean fill from excavation works.

It is the intention of SUEZ-ResourceCo’s Victorian operation is to establish an additional Process Engineered Fuel manufacturing facility leveraging the experience gained from the successful Wingfield plant in South Australia.

Incoming Raw Materials

In Victoria, our SUEZ-ResourceCo facility accepts material from C&I, clean C&D and mixed C&D sources. This material is sorted, removing all ferrous and non-ferrous metals, inert fractions (bricks, concrete, etc) and non-recyclable material.

All salvaged metals are shipped to specialist external companies for sorting and recycling.

The inert fractions are recycled and resupplied to the civil construction market as an alternative to traditional quarried products.

Waste streams such as asphalt, concrete and masonry, are recycled into rubbles and road base materials, as well as Clean, Wet and Mixed Fill products.

Outgoing Products

SUEZ-ResourceCo manufactures a range of recycled crushed concrete materials, applying strict quality control and production procedures to ensure products comply with VicRoads specification section 820 – Recycled crushed concrete for pavement sub-base and light duty base.

The site produces and supplies BITUMATE™ which is a nominal 20mm graded pavement material manufactured from reclaimed asphalt. The physical properties of BITUMATE™ allow it to perform differently to traditional quarried pavement materials. The residual bitumen binder that is retained during the manufacturing process improves the mechanical interlocking and binding of each particle within the pavement.

The benefits of BITUMATE™ include:

  • Reduced dust generation through traffic and normal wear and tear
  • Increase in life expectancy of pavements
  • Decreases maintenance cycles and associated costs
  • Re-uses reclaimed asphalt thereby reducing disposal landfill

The site regularly conducts independent tests through an independant NATA accredited laboratory to ensure our products are consistently of the highest standard of Class 2, Class 3 and Class 4 Recycled Crushed Concrete.
