Resource Recovery & Recycling Facilities

SITA is doing its very best to achieve effective, efficient and environmentally sustainable ways to recycle and recover resources from all waste streams to ensure that as much material as possible is turned into valuable, reusable resources.

Our Resource Recovery & Recycling Facilities provide a consolidation point for unsorted material collected from residential or commercial premises and from public drop-off facilities.  These facilities are purpose built to accept, process and transform materials into valuable, beneficial products for reuse.

Some resource recovery takes place through product segregation and/or onsite processing. Material that is unable to be processed onsite is loaded into larger vehicles for transportation to an ARRT, MRF or an Organic Resource Recovery Facility.

Residual materials are transported to landfill.

Often transfer stations start out as a site for the temporary acceptance of waste and, through the introduction of sorting and processing techology, become Resource Recovery Facilities.

SITA is continually introducing new services and technologies that transform waste into valuable resources.  We currently have 12 resource recovery and/or treatment facilities. To find where they are located visit our Facilities Map.
