Household Chemicals

Chemicals can be harmful to our environment and endanger the health of humans and wildlife if not disposed of safely.

Will SUEZ accept my chemicals?
Some SUEZ facilities will accept household quantities of sump oil (used engine oil) and liquid paint for recycling. Charges may apply. Contact SITA on 13 13 35 for more information.

Household Chemicals
Residents may be able to dispose of their chemicals free of charge through one of the following services;

NSW Clean Out 131 555

The Office of Environment & Heritage provides a free drop off for paint and other household chemicals to residents of NSW.

ACT Canberra Connect 13 22 81

The ACT Government website can advise residents of services available for chemical disposal.

VIC Detox Your Home 1300 363 744

Resource Smart Victoria provides drop off centres and a mobile service for the disposal of paint and chemicals free of charge.

SA Zero Waste SA 08 8204 1947

Zero Waste SA provides a free drop off service for hazardous waste.

Zero Waste WA provides a number of drop off centres for chemical waste.

QLD Local Councils

SUEZ’s Liquid Tanker system is ideal for commercial, industrial, retail, and domestic customers who generate any form of bulk liquid or sludge waste. Typical applications for this system include restaurants, vehicle or mechanical equipment wash facilities, households and any other industrial pit or tank clearing operation. The Liquid Tanker system is generally operated by a vacuum tanker that ranges in capacity from 8,000 litres to 22,000 litres depending on location and configuration.             

Further information on chemicals:

  • Never pour chemicals or oils down the sink or drain. Protect our environment by taking them to a licensed facility for safe disposal.
  • Read the labels for safety instructions.
  • Never mix chemicals with any other liquid or solid substances, other than as directed on the label.
  • Never put liquids, chemicals or oil in the garbage bin.
  • Store leftover chemicals in the original container with the label intact.
  • Store chemicals away from extreme temperatures.
  • Keep chemicals away from children and pets.
