Community Reference Groups

Strong community relationships are integral to SUEZ’s commitment to be a proactive, responsible member of the community and a sustainable business.

The value of community stakeholder engagement is recognised at every level of SUEZ and we consider our neighbouring communities and businesses, non-government organisations and all levels of government to be key partners.

SUEZ aims to interact with community representatives in a consultative forum through which members of the community can keep up-to-date on the operations of its waste management and organic processing facilities and provide input on a wide range of resource recovery, sustainability and corporate citizenship topics.

To achieve this goal, SUEZ currently operates several Community Reference Groups (CRGs) across Australia. The objectives of these groups are to:

  • facilitate community awareness of the operations, environmental performance and any short, medium and long term development of the relevant facility;
  • provide community members with the opportunity to engage in dialogue with SUEZ regarding any issues of concern related to the facility;
  • provide community members with an opportunity, wherever practicable, to provide input into SUEZ’s decision making process regarding the facility; and
  • foster understanding and cooperation between community members and SUEZ employees in minimising the impact of the facility on the local community.

Get Involved!

Most CRGs meet three to six times every year, with the exact frequency of meetings dependent on the current and planned activity of the relevant SUEZ facility. Membership and participation in a CRG is free-of-charge, voluntary and open to:

  • Any interested person who lives, works or has an interest in the vicinity of the relevant SUEZ facility; and
  • Any interested locally based community group representing those who have an interest in the vicinity of the relevant SUEZ facility.

Select your state from the left-hand side menu to find out about groups which might be active in your area.

SUEZ's Environment Report Hotline

SUEZ has a dedicated Environment Report Hotline for anyone living, or working, near one of our facilities in New South Wales, Victoria or Western Australia.

The hotline has been set up to receive feedback on environmental matters which are sometimes associated with recycling and waste management facilities – like odours, noise, dust and mud tracking.

This service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Your call will always be answered by a real person - not just an automated message - who will enter your feedback and forward it immediately to the staff at the facility. This allows us to take immediate action to determine the cause of any concerns you may have, and gives us the best chance of rectifying the situation quickly. A SUEZ employee will endeavour to contact you within 24 hours with feedback on your report.

To provide your feedback, please call:
