Plastic Recycling

SUEZ is continually seeking new ways to recover the many different types of plastic products that are still being sent to landfill that could easily be recycled for reuse. In 2015 SUEZ has recycled 3,513t of plastic

Plastic Recycling at a Glance

SUEZ can tailor a plastics collection and recycling service to meet the individual needs of our customers. We are able to provide a variety of containers, balers and cages suitable to site requirements.

Plastic Identification

SUEZ can assist in the identification and assessment of all plastic types and provide advice on recycling and resource recovery options for plastic waste generated by your business.

In Australia, you can identify most plastics through the use of the Plastics Identification Code.  This code makes it easier for reprocessors to separate used plastics for a range of new applications.

Acceptance Criteria*

  • Co-mingled containers - mixed products
  • - standard collection and recycling service for all types of plastics including bottles, milk and juice containers
  • Soft plastic - source-separated
  • - plastics such as shrink-wrap, bubble-wrap and shopping bags can be bagged and baled for collection and recycling
  • Hard plastic - source-separated
  • - plastics such as PET packaging, PET drink containers and crates can be baled or bagged for collection and recycling

* Please note that service availability and container sizes may vary across locations.

What happens after we've collected your Plastic?

Plastic that is collected by SUEZ or dropped off at one of our resource recovery centres is screened, decontaminated and sorted into specific types e.g. HDPE

Soft plastics and most bottles are baled, however, hard plastics are processed and pelletised into granules for transport to manufacturing industries.

Recycled plastics reduce the need for virgin material in the manufacturing process of products such as irrigation piping and mobile garbage bins. Found out more about our recycling solutions here.
